Matthew 13:44-46

Find a place and time free of distractions for the next 7-10 minutes. Sit comfortably and breathe deeply for a few seconds before you begin. As you breathe in, say the name of Jesus and become aware of his presence with you. As you breathe out, open your mind and heart to receive whatever Jesus has for you today.

As we continue with the parables of Jesus, read Matthew 13:44-46 slowly, picturing the scenes.

What really matters to you? Perhaps you have a set of values that you aspire to. But if you were completely honest, what would you say truly occupies the majority of your time, thoughts, and efforts?

Take a moment or two to sit with these questions sharing your thoughts openly with Jesus.

Now allow all these thoughts to settle while you center yourself. Breathe deeply focusing on the name of Jesus as you inhale and exhale. If thoughts intrude, recognize them and allow them to drift on by.

Read Matthew 13:44-46 again pausing to listen to Jesus whenever you feel prompted.

You are loved by God just because God created you, and Jesus stands with open arms ready to pour the love of God into you through the Holy Spirit. You were created to experience the Kingdom of God, and the deepest desires of your heart are rooted in the echoes of shalom.

Like treasure buried under layers of human rebellion or a perfect pearl mixed in with a thousand ordinary others, the Kingdom of God is there, waiting for you.

As you end this time of reflection, consider what Jesus might want you to remember or do after meditating on these parables.

How do you plan to follow through on what you heard from Jesus?
